About

Helping Paws Animal Network (HPAN) was formed in April 2011 as a grassroots effort of a few animal lovers in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. In August 2013, HPAN became incorporated as an official nonprofit organization, gaining tax exempt status under IRS Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Today, we have grown to a large network of supporters.

We verify needs of local rescue groups and provide financial assistance for critical needs, such as food, shelter, vet services, and boarding for animals that are hungry, hurting, or homeless in Anderson and surrounding counties of East Tennessee. Cases are evaluated and prioritized, based on need and available funding. Funds are distributed to the veterinarian, kennel, specific vendor, or rescue to meet the needs of animals that are in rescue and not individually owned.

We rely on the generosity of our supporters: individuals and local businesses. There are many ways to support HPAN, and all donations are tax-deductible. Because of generous donations, we are able to ensure hundreds of dogs and cats and other animals have a chance to be placed in loving homes where they are wanted and loved. Rescued animals can live out the rest of their lives returning that love to their forever families.

We not only help dogs and cats. Among other species, we support equine rescue and have been able to help horses, donkeys, and even a camel to have healthy, comfortable lives in rescue.

Vision and Mission

Our vision is to end animal suffering, one rescue at a time.

Our mission is to help local verified rescue groups with funds for food, shelter, veterinary services, boarding, and other critical needs for animals that are hungry, hurting, or homeless.

Who We Are

The Board of Directors is comprised of seven board members, including a President, Treasurer, and Secretary. The Board meets monthly, the first Tuesdays of every month, at Oak Ridge Associated Universities, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Community Stewards

We strive to be good stewards of the community. We serve as a social media network to:

  • Reunite lost or stolen animals with their loving owners
  • Post adoptable animals that are available for free
  • Promote the work and events of local rescues and community partners

Note: Any views expressed by individual board members or supporters on this or any social media site do not reflect the viewpoint of HPAN.
